Not a bad effort, ...
Not a bad effort, but I've gotta say I didn't think it was very successful. The vocals really suffered for the tempo changes and whatnot. That said, I love the original but I don't think any track should ever be considered 'untouchable', but it's obviously very hard to improve on near-perfect songs. Coupled with the fact that the majority of dubstep does nothing for me at the best of times. -tommusthecountryman

While a nice attempt I think you may have overdone it a bit. You have a lot going on in the song. I would say if you revisit this that you might want to be more minimalistic with it. A good start, just needs a bit more work. -MoonVydeo

dude you did a really good job with this, i don't think you ruined it at all you just portrayed it in a different light and i think it worked out well -JackTho
thanks 4 criticism ...
thanks 4 criticism - ur all obviously Cash fans so I knew I'd get this reaction - amongst dubstep/electronica enthusiasts, this has had some positive feedback & has been featured on music blogs over the past few days. however, I can completely appreciate that u feel I've taken away the true meaning of the original JC version - this wasn't my intention. but if u think i've murdered this song, check some other diabolical remixes of this on youtube & across the web & then tell me i've murdered it! -Hobbzification

interesting take-- and while it ain't Cash, i don't hate it. but then the JC cover is so powerful that it's pretty much bulletproof. -androydnyc
@Hobbzification You ...
@Hobbzification You were right, it probably shouldn't have been touched, but you could have at least not sped it up, it destroys the emotional depth of the song. The whole point of Johnny Cash's 'American Recordings' series was to cut away the musical dead wood, and return to the musical core of guitar and vocals. If you wanted to do a dubstep version, you should have redone the Manson version, which would be perfect for a dub cut. Sorry dude, but this doesn't work at all. -MrSabazius
